This was the seventh Donington Historic Festival believe it or not. Having been to them all it really shows how time flies. I feel well placed to compare the progress from year to year and against all the other festivals and classic car shows that there are now in the UK. This year’s event, which took place between 28th April and 30th April was slightly different in format, given all qualifying took place on the Friday, with races taking place on the Saturday and Sunday.
The event was no bigger or smaller in size than previous years which is fine, as this event is all about the racing, with other attractions more a bonus. We went on the Sunday and had a great time. Our top 10 cars from the day can be seen here. Our photo album can be seen here, but here is a small glimpse of a few cars…
Personally I still think these events could be so much better attended if they let any classic car or sports cars onto the infield, not just members of the respective car clubs. Maybe next year as I say every year!
It was a great day out. Well done organisers and racers. I’ve got next year in my diary for sure. Next we’ll be off to the Goodwood Festival of Speed, and don’t you forget to keep a watch out for our competitions to win a pair of tickets to a UK Classic Car Show. We have Motorsport at the Palace and the Chateau Impney Hill Climb competitions running at the moment.
