Pictures from Windsor Castle Concours of Elegance 2012.
You may be reading this and you went to the event, maybe you did not attend, but hey if you did, wasn’t it spectacular, and that’s no exaggeration.
As a history lover and classic car, rare car and beautiful car aficionado who could I not be completely consumed by the day and the venue.
What a wonderful idea to have such an event within the grounds of one of the worlds most iconic and beautiful historic castles.
Now, I’ve never been to Pebble Beach (yet), but can it be any better, can it?Anyway, with the gracious permission of Her Majesty The Queen, the Windsor Castle Concours of Elegance took place over the weekend of Friday 7th, Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th September 2012. Displayed in the central quadrangle (The Upper Ward) of Windsor Castle were 60 ‘gems’, half of them coming from abroad—almost 20 from America. Some of them are outright concours winners; others were in the final process of restoration ready for their ‘debut’.
The Windsor Castle Concours of Elegance was an event where classic car owners can be part of the show too! Nearly all of the cars in the Concours were driven into the Castle by their owners on the opening day – Friday, September 7. A further 60 British classics were driven on the Royal Automobile Club’s ‘Best of British Tour’ on Saturday, September 8.
On Sunday, September 9 (the day I attended) a further 60 cars, one from each year of HM The Queen’s reign, arrived as part of the Octane Jubilee Tour. If that wasn’t enough, numerous Owners’ Clubs brought their top 60 examples too. Everyone from Aston Martin to Bentley, Jaguar to Ferrari joined the party with special displays along the Castle’s Long Walk.
A postcard will follow shortly, but for now here is a selection of my photos from the day, more can be seen on our Facebook page.
