Are Ferrari 360 Challenge Stradale price’s bonkers or still too low?

An article caught my eye this week that was titled “The £200K 360 CS has left Chris bemused; where will it end?”, which in summary was discussing the inflated classic car market and Chris Harris’s view.  I understand Chris’s view, and have to agree with him that many cars are way way overpriced right now, like some of the Porsche 911s, I don’t get the Ferrari Testarossa price hikes when so many were made.  However, we love the Ferrari 360 Challenge Stradale, they made half as many of them than they did the Ferrari F40.  And before you say the F40 is a legend, yes it is, but Ferrari classify the 360 CS, F430 Scuderia and 458 Speciale in the same category as the 288, F40, F50, Enzo, etc.  The 360 CS is a very special car, the loudest car that Ferrari have ever made, it’s an unforgettable sound, drive and something that is a one off experience, IT’S AN EVENT.  They only made 119 right hand drives, and the one for sale at £200k only had 3600 miles (cars are to be driven people!), so I get that.ferrari-360-challenge-stradale

Compare this to a Ferrari 365 GTB/4 (Daytona) (below), they made 1,284; seven alloy, 158 RHD. way more than the 360 CS, and they are bonkers prices, circa £300-400k.

The Ferrari Dino 246 GT, they made 2,487, 488 RHD.  Come on people!  These beautiful little cars have doubled in price in the last few years, but look at the production numbers, and some would argue it’s not even a genuine Ferrrai, yet prices are hovering around £150-300k.

So there you have some context.  All these cars have jumped dramatically in the last 2-3 years, doubled in prices in many instances, but that’s the way its panned out, however what I know for sure is that the 360 CS is worth every penny of £200k, and due to its majestic look, sound, rarity, it should only continue to appreciate as any Ferrari expert will tell you.

    Hi Bob,
Great to hear from you, and a fellow Ferrari 360 Challenge Stradale lover like myself. It is to date the best Ferrari I’ve ever owned and driven. The noise is just monumental, and I’m reliably informed it’s the noisiest Ferrari ever made to date.

I saw the Evo article that stated that 852 Stradales were built, of which 116 were officially imported to the UK. Why can’t you get a simple answer from Ferrari?

I think from what I can tell I’ll go for 1200 worldwide, Final 360 CS UK production numbers by colour, seems to indicate: 119 according to people on Ferrari Life:

    Argento Nurburgring 4
    Blu Tour De France 10
    Giallio Modena 3
    Grigo Titanio 1
    Nero DS 1
    Nero Daytona 5
    Nuovo Nero Daytona 10
    Rosso Corsa 27
    Rosso Scuderia 58

    What colour is yours?

Price wise I think (and hope) it will go to circa £500,000 in the next 5-10 years. When I bought mine I was informed that Ferrari themselves viewed the car in the same league as its other supercars, such as the 288 GTO, F40, F50, Enzo, 599 GTO and LaFerrari. Prices for these have gone up and up, so £300k for a 360 CS is great value I’d say. With F40s at £800,000 it’s no way near half that car.

Only time will tell, but what a car!

BONKERS? Trawling through emails, I found your post Will (only a little late lol). How many CS’s built? Well, they were made between 2003-2004, I always thought approx 1200. However, I’ve seen 700 or less, 852 according to EV.co.uk. 1184, 1274, 1288, someone says is official total though who knows and Ferrari won’t say but I’m 99% it’s around 1200. Vast majority were left hookers, lot less value and I believe about 300 UK though some say 119 or so? Ho hum.. Since your last email, the value of the CS has risen hugely, I saw one last year at 340k ask, think market is a bit more tepid now and mine’s at 24k miles so it will be less but it’s been used but loved as it should be.. Anyway, it’s nestling in my garage, just had it’s calipers sorted. I’m still convinced that though there are much faster and technically capable Ferraris now, there’s still nothing as epic, nothing as hands on, raw, even go-kart like and that’s agreed by many accounts. It’s a car you have to drive to understand, you feel the rubber on tarmac like you’re wired in… Wonder what it’s upper limit will be?

Agreed Bob. Best sounding road Ferrari so far. Loudest as well I’m reliably informed. It’s also doubled in price since recession lows of £80-85k for a RHD. Still got to question if the best Ferrari F40s are £800k, and the best 360 Challenge Stadale is £200k, is the 360CS only a quarter as good?

Of course not. So is the 360CS still going to rise and to what by when, or is the F40 going to fall and to what by when?

Lastly, do you know how many 360CSs were made. I read 817 but there seems to be no definitive answer.

    AGREE!
Guess I’m a little biased being a 360 Stradale owner. I’ve driven it quite a bit in Europe on some awesome roads and you can bring what you like to the party but nothing beats the sound of a 360CS on song in Race Mode. Over 4500rpm or so, everything changes, the exhaust note is epic! In fact the first day I drove it, it made the hair on the back of my head stand up and I’m bald!!
On a ‘rally’ we had the use of Monza for a few of hours. There was a wide range of supercars there inc Enzo, Carretra GT, Zonda, Koenigsegg etc.
How happy was I when unprompted, my 360CS was voted best sound down the start finish straight! “Much as we hate to admit it” Sorry but I had a proud, smugly contented feeling 🙂
Regardless of opinion, it has a unique, unmistakeable sound all it’s own, I love it .

  • I have to agree, some of these cars are seriously overpriced, and in all fairness only fall into the collectors category due to the badge and demand from people not truly knowing what qualifies as a classic or collectors car.
