Congratulations to our competition winners who all won a pair of tickets, and will all be attending this years fantastic Donington Historic Festival courtesy of MyCarHeaven.com.

Competition winners were:

  • John Bakewell from Birmingham;
  • Matthew Barrington from Coventry; and
  • Ian Edwards from Gloucester.

Also Dan Fisher from Heywood, Lancashire won a ticket through our Competwition competition

Well done to you all, we hope you will enjoy the great racing and classic cars on display.  It is certainly and experience day that no motorsport fan should miss.

As well as housing over 300 iconic historic racing cars in between their periods of action out on the track, the paddock at the Donington Historic Festival will be home to fascinating individual displays of special vehicles, including some outstanding cars from two forthcoming Bonhams sales.

Sir Stirling Moss will be signing autographs in the paddock on the Sunday.

Over in the infield, hundred of classic cars from car clubs across the UK will form a magnificent display. Jaguar and Porsche are the marques with the most cars due to go on show, but there is strong support from Lotus, MG, Morgan, TVR, Triumph and Ferrari, plus a host of other marques including Rolls-Royce, Bentley, Aston Martin, Riley, and Daimler.

The Trade Village, a favourite of mine, will be adjacent to the main paddock, and contain over 40 exhibitors, selling everything from automotive art and motorsport magazines to diecast models, enamel signs, motoring books, luggage, car-themed gifts, racewear, spares and tyres.

And last, but not least, the magnificent Donington Grand Prix Collection houses the world’s largest collection of F1 cars.

Remember, if you want the chance to win complimentary tickets to other UK car events, such at Silverstone Classic, Goodwood Revival, Goodwood Festival of Speed, Classic Motor Show, Chelsea Autolegends, Race Retro, Cholmondeley Pageant of Power, Bromley Pageant of Motoring and more, then I strongly suggest you sign up to our weekly newsletter, so that you will be kept up to date of our latest free ticket competitions.

Enjoy the event, looks like it’s going to be  a corker.

What a great day my favourites were the the pre 1930 GP cars and the Mini’s taking on the big yank monsters. It was great to be able to walk around the paddock watching the cars being prepared.
Many thanks for the tickets my son and I had a great day and free tea and coffee at the TR Register (I am a member).

    Thanks Again

    Ian,

We’re delighted you had a great time. We went on the Sunday also and like you really enjoyed the day. My boy added to his ever growing die cast 1:18 scale car collection, buying a yellow Lamborghini Murcielago LP 640 Roadster‎ from the trade village. He’s now got 3 Ferrari’s and 3 Lamborghini’s, more than I ever had as a kid!

In terms of the races, I loved the Stirling Moss Trophy for pre-61 sportscars, the HSCC Historic F2 race (wow those cars are loud), the Pre-63 GT race and also the Group C sportscars.

Reviews of the weekend and pictures to follow shortly.

Keep a watch out for our other free ticket give aways to other great classic car shows and motorsport events. All the best.

    Will

I was very pleased to recieve 2-tickets for the Donington Historic Festival, and with a check of the weather forecast it looked like it was going to be dry for the Sunday. We left Gloucester at 7.30, and an hour and a quarter later were parking my Focus ST-3 just outside the paddock entrance.
This event is in it’s second year of running, and although it may not be as big as other historic festivals it has an ideal format when you only have a day to look around. With qualifying in the Morning it gives you plenty of time to walk the paddock, take photos, get autographs and spend too much money at the trade village [ahem] Then grab some dinner and claim a spot for the afternoons racing.
The racing was great, and my personal favourite the GrpC cars delivered a great battle between the Aston Martin and C2 spec Spice with the Aston victorious, just. we stayed till the end of the last race and got out of the circuit with no problem, and it didn’t rain.
    Thanks for a great day.
