Win a pair of free tickets to the 2011 Classic Motor Show at the NEC

We are delighted to be able to offer our readers the chance to attend this years Classic Motor Show at the NEC, to be held Friday 11th to Sunday 13th November 2011.  To have a chance of winning a ticket or a pair of tickets (face value of £17.50 per ticket), simply leave a comment or comments on the site on this or any of the previous posts.  Those people contributing will have a chance of being awarded tickets, which we will award on the 4th November 2011, so you will receive your tickets in good time for the event.

So more about this years event.  I’ve been several times and I can assure you it is a good day out, especially so if you love classic cars.

It is the UK’s biggest and best classic motoring celebration.  Spanning seven halls with over 1,400 cars and 250 motorcycles on display, Britain’s best motoring clubs pull out all the stops to showcase rare and exciting marques ranging from pre-war through to retro classics, American muscle cars to Japanese performance, European elegance to Great British sports cars and many more.  I remember a few years back when the Maserati owners club had a great display, featuring the wonderful Maserati 250F (below).

The centrepiece of the car displays is the Meguiar’s Club Showcase bringing together the best concours cars from the club events throughout the year before crowning a winner as Car of the Year. Other features include the Wheeler Dealer Live Stage hosted by the TV’s Mike Brewer and Edd China with restoration challenges, special guests and exclusive competitions. The impressive Restoration Theatre has a team of mechanics ready to show visitors exactly how to tackle all aspects of restoring a cherished classic car.

As well as the impressive car displays, visitors can also enjoy the Footman James Classic Motorbike Show featuring live motorcycle action, stunning bike club displays, a Pride of Ownership concours and a Vintage Wall of Death. There will also be guest appearances on Saturday and Sunday from Former World Superbike and GP rider Pierfrancesco ‘Frankie’ Chili and Ex-World Superbike World Champion and TT winner Carl ‘Foggy’ Fogarty.

Across both events, over 300 trade stands sell a wide range of parts, spares, tools, motoring services and memorabilia while the popular Autojumble and Bikejumble are havens for mechanics looking for that elusive motoring component.

So that’s it in brief.  Leave a comment now to have a chance to win yourself a pair of tickets free, courtesy of MyCarHeaven.

Really looking forward to this years show, a pair of tickets would really help, because it leaves me with more money to spend on the things I love.

    Mick,

You are so very welcome. It is always lovely to hear back from readers. We are delighted you enjoyed the show.

It was absolutely fantastic this year. We were a bit automotived (not a word, but you get the message) out by the end of the day. It was a lot of walking to look at everything stand. WEW didn’t get time to look at the Motor Bike Show.

I also bought a lot of stuff, it was great for that also.

A little story from me. Not that I could have bought the car, but I was speaking to Silverstone auctions who had a stand with a beautiful Ford Mustang GT Fastback (i.e. Eleanor from Gone in Sixty Seconds). This was at about 10-11am on the Friday. I asked if it was for sale at the price shown (i.e. £79,995), thinking it is worth much more than this (it’s got to be a £100k car of the future). I was then informed a man was just put a deposit down to buy it, lucky bloke hey. Now that’s a fast and decisive mover. If I had the spare cash I would have done so myself. Strangely at its auction earlier in the year, they tried to sell the very same car for a reserve of £65-75k and it did not sell.

Anyway, that’s one story from my day. Glad you had a great day. Keep watching for more offers soon.

Many thanks for the tickets we had a great day out on Saturday.

We made an early start to try and avoid the crowds and got there just after nine, it soon filled up with people and in parts was very busy.

The show seems to get bigger every year, as we have been many times in the past being a classic car owner since the late 70’s. I started with a Triumph Stag then graduated to a Dailmler Soverign and for the last 20 years have stuck with my XJS Cabriolet so my interest is with those particular marques.

As usual I met many knowlegable people on the stands and picked up some good tips and advice. We sat and watched Mike Brewer on the live stage (mainly to have a rest) and it was very entertaining, we also caught his interview with Carl and Frankie at the motorbike show, and seeing all the bikes on show bought back many memories of my biking days. A nice lunch and a few purchases for running repairs topped off a really good day.

    Many thanks again.

I’d love to be able to afford a supercar, but I have to say one of the most timeless and amazing cars is the Aston Martin DB9. I’ve driven one myself and it’s outstanding in every way.

A great day out, nice 50 mile journey to get the car warmed up. Loads to see and pick up tips and advice from the traders, then a leisurely ride back to the wifes Sunday roast. A perfect day.

  • david cooper says:

A must see this show, brilliant time last year, just lost my job as company went into administration, so I would really love to go and have a good time.

  • Will Wynn says:

    Derek,

I could not agree more. For me though I take little photos at such an event, I like to just take it all in, which can be lost sometimes when you are clicking away all the time.

I like your photos website by the way, good job.

    Will.

  • Will Wynn says:

    Cheers
