Maserati GranTurismo S: the test drive.

I was very pleased to have a test drive recently of the beautiful Maserati GranTurismo S.  I have thought for some time that this is the car for me.  As GT’s go, you would obviously consider the Ason Martin DB9, one of the many Ferrari‘s, but for me the Maserati GranTurismo S would have to be right up there.

I will not waste all my time giving you statistics, the most awesome thing about this car is how it sounds, OMG as the younger generation say.  The is one loud car, that will make you want to accelerate and have it setting set to sport all day, every day, it’s intoxicating.

Just listen to the Maserati-GranTurismo-engine-sound.

Yes it is filled with all the modern gadgets and buttons galore, not my thing really, but I could live with them, just for the sound.  This is a luxury car with superb performance.

What was it like to drive?

Well like most modern GTs it is comfortable and refined if you want it to be, or it is supercar if you really want some fun.  It was a pleasure to drive, one I will cherish until I have the funds to buy one.  A truly great car, a proper 4 seater GT, not 2 adults, 2 children.

Big thank you to Oliver at Meridien Modena.  Great service, great time, great car!

Well what do you think of the Maserati GranTurismo S?  Is this the best GT currently available?  Let’s hear your thoughts.

I agree. I think the Granturismo S has that little more power. Fingers crossed, keep working hard, I’ll have one in my garage at some point.

That’s a nice position to be in Will. I know Harry Metcalfe, editor of EVO magazine had a Granturismo and he loved it. He sold it and then 6 months after selling it he bought the same car back because he missed it. I’d say that’s a good recommendation for getting one. Keep us posted on what you decide

    Trevor,

Did you know the Maserati GranTurismo S engine is made by Ferrari, the car is hand made and only needs a service every two years (yes two years!). For me if I was to buy an everyday sports car/ Grand Tourer, then the Maserati GranTurismo is “the one”.

Yes the Aston Martin DB9 is in my mind, but the 6 litre engine puts me off, and I have heard it goes wrong, a lot.

The Ferrari 550 is certainly a consideration. I have not really considered the Aston Martin Vanquish 2+2, maybe I should take it for a test drive. Watch this space…

Very nice car, those V8 Masers do sound lovely. I looked at the older Gransport about a year ago and the engine note was to die for. However if I had the money I’d be tempted to go for an older Aston Martin Vanquish 2+2. Probably not as roomy inside but looks amazing and sounds even better than a Granturismo.
